Day 56 – Thursday 22 Feb 18 – Pereira
After another quiet night at La Rabida it was time to move on to Portugal.
We stopped at Lidl and the fuel station in Spain, where it is usually cheaper, before crossing the river into Portugal.
The official motorhome aire in Pereira is huge so we chose a good sunny spot away from others.
After lunch we walked into the sparsely populated small village. It used to be, in the 19th century, a refuge for those in debt. Since the 1950s the population steadily decreased and it was pretty much deserted when we walked round this afternoon.
The church is quite pretty with a clock that chimed on the hour.
The barragem adjacent to the motorhome aire was a slight disappointment as it is very small. We had envisaged some good walks or bike rides but decided it wasn’t worth it.
The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing in the sun.
Weather – sun, 20 degrees.
Distance driven: 105km
Overnight stopover: Motorhome aire Pereira, N37 26.703, W7 35.332. Waste, water, elsan using purchased token. Barragem 100m, village 600m.
